Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to three points after getting back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa ensured Carlo Ancelotti's team won in the league again after back-to-back draws, and took full advantage of slip-ups from rivals Cologne and Borussia Dortmund to put some daylight between themselves and their challengers at the top of the table.
Bayern's win was never in any doubt as they dominated from start to finish against a Gladbach side, who had to accept defeat against the Bavarians for the first time in five meetings, leaving them in the bottom half of the table.
Both sides had picked up confidence-boosting wins in Europe during the week, but a return to winning ways in the Bundesliga was their mutual objective on Saturday evening.
Bayern seemed hungrier for it and a couple of early sighters from Arjen Robben underlined their intentions.

Douglas Costa doubled Bayern's lead after half an hour, meeting David Alaba's cross after Oscar Wendt failed to get to it and turning it in for his eighth goal in Bayern colours.

Gladbach started to enjoy a bit more of the possession as the minutes ticked down, but they were rarely able to create any openings with Bayern custodian Manuel Neuer a mere spectator as his defence stood their ground well.
The post came to his rescue in the 70th minute when Andre Hahn finally managed to get a shot in, but that was the closest the Foals would come to scoring.
Bayern did not come any closer to adding a third, though, as the game petered out with Bayern winning comfortably and Gladbach's winless streak in the league extending to three games.
