Mesut Ozil hits hat trick as Arsenal hammer Ludogorets Razgrad

A Mesut Ozil hat trick spearheaded Arsenal's 6-0 Champions League demolition of Ludogorets at the Emirates Stadium.

Alex Sanchez produced a sublime lob to open the scoring as Arsenal stretched their unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions.

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also struck, with Ozil's second-half treble helping Arsenal retain top spot in Group A.

The Gunners remain above Paris Saint-Germain on goal difference after the French side beat Basel 3-0.

Sanchez offered the game's outstanding moment just 12 minutes in, with his sumptuous finish kick-starting Arsenal's routine triumph.

The Chile forward left Cosmin Moti and Ludogorets captain Svetoslav Dyakov trailing as he checked his run before floating the ball home.

But Jonathan Cafu reminded Arsenal of the visitors' pace on the break, half-rounding David Ospina only to scuff his attempt.

Ozil then fluffed an opening, failing to connect sweetly when gifted the ball on the edge of the area by Moti's poor clearance.

Ospina was forced into a fine save to deny Virgil Misidjan and bail out Shkodran Mustafi, who had failed to provide a clearing header before a low Wanderson effort grazed a post.

Arsenal took advantage of that let-off to double their lead when Walcott fired home from 20 yards.

And they wasted no time cementing victory after the break, adding two quick goals to double their lead.

Oxlade-Chamberlain swept home from Nataniel's weak clearance before Ozil raced through to bury the fourth.

Ludogorets' resolve was broken and Arsenal set about putting a gloss on the scoreline, with Ozil running riot. As the game opened up, the 28-year-old plundered two more goals to send the Emirates into late raptures.

Second-half replacement Lucas Perez laid on both in a neat cameo that would have delighted boss Arsene Wenger.
