Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund were brought back down to earth by an improving Eintracht Frankfurt side, who moved into the Bundesliga's top three with a 2-1 win at the Waldstadion.

Szabolcs Huszti and Haris Seferovic scored the goals for Niko Kovac's men, who held firm against a strong Dortmund attack which was only rewarded with one goal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Dortmund made their intentions clear early in the game with the same kind of attacking football which had accounted for Bayern Munich's first Bundesliga defeat of the season a week ago.

All that was lacking this time was the cutting edge, however, as Thomas Tuchel's men reaped no reward for their first-half efforts.

They suffered the proverbial sucker-punch in the first minute of the second half when Timothy Chandler's cross from the right was met by the unmarked Huszti, who turned the ball in first time from 15 yards.

Tuchel made a triple substitution just short of the hour mark with Marco Reus, Ousmane Dembele and Sebastian Rode replacing Adrian Ramos, Andre Schurrle and Julian Weigl.

The move breathed fresh life into the Dortmund attack and brought some new ideas to the table, and it was Dembele whose jinking run saw him create space to cross for Aubameyang to head Dortmund deservedly level in the 77th minute.

Perhaps everybody was now expecting Dortmund to run away with the game, but Frankfurt responded like they did at the very start of the second half to regain the lead within a minute.

Huszti was this time the provider for Seferovic, who beat Roman Weidenfeller with a first-time shot that the Dortmund custodian could only get his fingertips to, but not enough to keep the ball out.

Frankfurt then doubled their defensive efforts and held firm, resisting Dortmund's attacks to take all three points and moving three points clear of their opponents into the top three.
