Massimo Gobbi helped Chievo stop the rot by scoring the only goal of a 1-0 home win over Cagliari.
The former Parma midfielder snapped the Flying Donkeys' five-game winless run with a cool finish in the 53rd minute at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
Chievo were dominant in Verona and might have added further goals through Sergio Pellissier and Lucas Castro, while Portugal defender Bruno Alves enjoyed the best opportunity for Cagliari.
The Sardinians, following a fourth defeat from five games, slipped one place to 12th while Chievo jump above Fiorentina, Inter Milan and Genoa to reach eighth.
