Caretaker boss Tony Adams saw his Granada side pushed closer towards relegation from LaLiga following a 2-0 home defeat by Malaga.
Former England captain Adams had been parachuted into the dugout from his role as sporting director by Chinese owner Jiang Lizhang following a poor run under Lucas Alcaraz.
However, the 50-year-old has so far found it difficult to kickstart the fortunes of the team, who went into Tuesday night's match at Los Carmenes seven points adrift of safety on the back of successive defeats in which they failed to score.
Malaga, meanwhile, had pulled themselves clear of the relegation scrap after three wins from the past four matches.
The visitors should have taken an early lead when midfielder Keko was picked out in the centre of the penalty area by an angled through-ball from Sandro Ramirez, but somehow stabbed the ball wide from six yards.
Ignacio Camacho then saw his shot tipped over as Granada managed to make it through to half-time without having to chase another game.
It was, though, once again only a matter of time before the defence was breached.
The second half was only two minutes old when Granada failed to clear their lines and Ramirez promptly lashed a low shot from 25 yards into the bottom right corner.
Granada threatened to get themselves back into the match just after the hour when Slovenian midfielder Rene Krhin saw his effort from the edge of the penalty area saved at full stretch by Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni.
Ramirez almost bagged a second with 10 minutes left when his shot from just inside the penalty area cannoned against the right-hand post with goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa beaten.
Granada, though, were punished again for some lax defending in stoppage time.
Ramirez was played into the right side of the penalty area by substitute Javier Ontiveros and lashed in an angled drive to leave Adams' squad with it all to do in the closing four matches - which include a visit of Real Madrid - if they are to stay up.
