Inter Milan draw with Palermo in De Boer's first game at San Siro

Frank de Boer is still waiting for his first win as Inter Milan manager after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Palermo in the Dutchman's first game at the San Siro.

Andrea Rispoli's deflected effort early in the second half was cancelled out by Inter striker Mauro Icardi's 10th goal of the calendar year on a day when the hosts also confirmed the signing of Portugal international Joao Mario.

The Euro 2016 winner's pre-game introduction could not inspire a first-half goal, though Gary Medel and Miranda both came close, and Rispoli broke the deadlock three minutes after the break for the visitors.

Defender Davide Santon hooked a clearance into Rispoli's path and his first-time half-volley would have been dealt with by Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic had a turning Santon not flicked it beyond him with a deflection off his left leg.

Having squandered a great chance to equalise when unmarked, Icardi did level matters with a header 18 minutes from time when left alone again from substitute Antonio Candreva's cross.

Ex-Lazio winger Candreva then conjured up a chance for Eder to head home a winner, but the Italian nodded wide.

It leaves Inter with one point from two games and De Boer still in search of his first victory with his much-changed side following the opening-day defeat at Chievo.
