Osasuna 0-2 Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad bounced back from their opening LaLiga defeat thanks to a 2-0 win over Osasuna at El Sadar Stadium.

Juanmi fired the visitors in front on the stroke of half-time and Unai Garcia's unfortunate own goal ensured Sociedad, beaten 3-0 by Real Madrid on the opening day of the season, took three points.

The home side's chances were not helped by being forced into a change after just seven minutes, with Javier Flano forced off through injury to be replaced by Aitor Bunuel.

But they forced the first real chances of the contest around the half-hour mark as Oriol Riera headed wide from Bunuel's cross and Garcia also failed to find the target from Miguel de las Cuevas' delivery.

At the other end, Mikel Oyarzabal should have done better with his header from six yards out before the deadlock was finally broken on the stroke of half-time, Oyarzabal turning provider to set up Juanmi to fire home from inside the area.

The lively Oyarzabal almost doubled the lead immediately after the interval but saw his shot saved by Nauzet and Osasuna threatened to get back on level terms when Jaime Romero fired wide from just outside the area.

However, the result was finally settled in unorthodox circumstances just nine minutes from time when Garcia scored a bizarre own goal.

The 23-year-old defender was trying to clear a long through ball from Berchiche Yuri, but only succeeded in sending a looping header over Nauzet's head as the goalkeeper advanced to the edge of the area.
