Inter Milan have to settle for a point against Bologna in Serie A

Inter Milan had to be content with a point against Bologna after a fine volley from Ivan Perisic saw them recover to draw 1-1 at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Frank de Boer's side were chasing a fourth successive Serie A victory, but found themselves behind after 14 minutes when Mattia Destro scored against his former club.

However, Perisic produced a superb finish on 37 minutes to level things up before half-time.

Inter, though, were unable to conjure a winner with defender Andrea Ranocchia heading a great chance wide in stoppage time, and so could not close up the gap on leaders Juventus, whom they now trail by four points.

De Boer had been forced to change a winning side, with defenders Miranda and Jeison Murillo out through injury.

The Rossoblu took an early lead when Inter midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia was caught in possession and Simone Verdi set up Destro, the former Inter youth team player, for his third goal of the new season.

On the half-hour, de Boer made a tactical switch when Assane Gnoukouri replaced Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Inter equalised as Croatian Perisic crashed an angled volley into the bottom corner after the ball was floated across the Bologna penalty area by Antonio Candreva.

The Nerazzurri continued to press, but Bologna were dangerous on the counter attack with Verdi and Blerim Dzemaili both having chances.

In stoppage time, Perisic looked to have set up Ranocchia for the winner, but the defender sent his free header wide.
