Harry Kane double keeps Tottenham Hotspur alive with win over PSV Eindhoven

Tottenham's Champions League campaign is still alive after two late Harry Kane goals game them a 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven at Wembley.

Luuk de Jong put PSV in front in the second minute and despite heavy Spurs pressure they could not find a way through. But Kane once again proved to be their hero with goals in the 78th and 89th minutes.

PSV shocked the Wembley crowd after just two minutes when Gaston Pereiro's corner was headed home by De Jong.

Spurs came back immediately and Dele Alli almost scored with an audacious flick which was headed off the line by Angelino, before Christian Eriksen and Kane both saw efforts blocked.

The Eredivisie side weathered the storm and settled back into the game, Kane forcing the first save from Jeroen Zoet in the 21st minute. Lucas Moura then showed superb skill to run through the PSG defence but Zoet just managed to keep him out.

Zoet was the hero once again when he made himself big to keep out first Eriksen and then Alli on the rebound, though both Spurs players really should have scored if they'd picked their spot.

The next effort came in the 36th minute as Alli didn't get enough on his shot and Zoet thwarted him with an outstretched boot.

For all their dominance, Spurs went in behind at the break.

Tottenham struggled to get going in the second half, and it was PSV who had the first chance when Pereiro saw his header clawed out by Paulo Gazzaniga.

Spurs finally began to improve in the final half hour, and Son Heung-Min fired wide via a deflection.

Kane saw an effort again blocked by Zoet in the 76th minute, but he would not be denied two minutes later when substitute Fernando Llorente cushioned the ball down for the England captain to convert.

But it was PSV who almost went back in front when Donyell Malen broke through but Gazzaniga showed strong hands to deny him.

Llorente had a chance to win it, but he headed straight at the goalkeeper from Harry Winks' fine delivery.

There was just one minute left on the clock when Kane completed the comeback, his header deflecting off the thigh of Gutierrez and into the corner to leave Zoet helpless.

With Inter and Barcelona drawing at the San Siro, Spurs sit three points behind the Serie A side and host them at Wembley on Matchday 5.
