Philip Rivers puso fin a su carrera el miércoles después de 17 temporadas en la NFL, 16 con Los Angeles Chargers y una con los Indianapolis Colts.
A pesar de que el quarterback nunca llegó al Super Bowl, ranquea quinto en la historia de la NFL con 63,440 yardas por pase, únicamente por detrás de Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning y Brett Favre. Sus 421 pases de touchdown de por vida también lo colocan quinto en la historia de la liga, y debe estar en camino al Salón de la Fama del Fútbol Americano Profesional en Canton, Ohio, en cinco años.
Antiguos rivales como Ben Roethlisberger de los Pittsburgh Steelers, el retirado Eli Manning de los New York Giants --quien fue canjeado por Rivers en el 2004-- y el liniero defensivo de los Houston Texans, J.J.
