Depor back to winning ways

Deportivo La Coruna eased the pressure on manager Victor Fernandez with a hard-earned 1-0 win over fellow Primera Division strugglers Elche at the Riazor to move out of the bottom three.
Fernandez had seen his position come under the microscope following a six-match winless streak.
However, a fine strike from midfielder Luis Farina midway through the first half proved enough to settle what was a tense encounter, with a superb late reflex save from Fabricio denying Elche the chance to snatch a point.
It had been a bright start by the home side, despite the wet conditions, as Jose Toche was just off target with a close-range header.
Elche, without a win in the league since beating Espanyol on November 2, threatened when Garry Rodrigues got into space in the right side of the Depor penalty area, but dragged his shot wide
On 19 minutes, Toche found the target with a glancing header, but Przemyslaw Tyton got down to make a smart save.
The Elche goalkeeper, however, could do little to stop Farina's effort on 22 minutes, which flew into the top right corner after being set up by Jose Rodriguez.
Elche almost struck a quick equaliser, but Jonathas' header was saved.
The visitors remained dangerous on the break, with Victor Rodriguez just unable to convert a deep right-wing cross when flying in at the far post.
The playing surface remained slick at the start of the second half, with Deportivo defender Alberto Lopo and midfielder Ivan Cavaleiro both collecting cautions at after losing footing as the tackles flew in.
On 55 minutes, Elche boss Fran Escriba made a change in an attempt to spark some life into his side as defensive midfieler Jose Angel was replaced by Mario Pasalic.
Elche raised the tempo and went close on the hour as a corner was headed over by Jonathas, before a looping header from Rodriguez was also just off target.
Fernandez's side had, though, weathered the storm and regrouped to finish the match strongly, as Rodriguez cracked an angled strike against the crossbar.
However, Depor were indebted to goalkeeper Fabricio with just five minutes left when he somehow deflected a goalbound effort from Enzo Roco off of his face and up over the crossbar.
