Gabriel Barbosa scores to save Inter Milan against Bologna

Gabriel "Gabigol" Barbosa came off the bench to hand Inter Milan a late 1-0 win over Bologna that lifted them back into fourth place.

The Brazil forward has struggled to adapt to life in Italy but replaced Antonio Candreva and struck in the 81st minute to secure his side all three points.

The Nerazzurri could have been ahead as early as the 12th minute but for a Rodrigo Palacio miss from five-yards out. The veteran forward also missed a good opportunity with his head just before half-time.

After the break Ivan Perisic was denied by Bologna goalkeeper Angela Da Costa from close range as Inter pushed for the breakthrough, but it didn't come until late in the game when Gabigol scored his first goal for the club in his fifth appearance with a straightforward back-post finish from a Danilo D'Ambrosio cross.

In the closing stages Bologna's Adam Masina cleared off the goalline to deny Gabigol a second.

Inter have now won four of their last five Serie A games without conceding and are in contention for a European spot ahead of second-placed Roma's visit to the San Siro next Sunday.
