Stassi y Canning guían a Angels en victoria sobre Padres
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Max Stassi conectó cuatro hits, incluyendo dos impresionantes jonrones, Griffin Canning ponchó a 10 en seis trabajados innings y Los Ángeles Angels vencieron el martes 4-2 a los San Diego Padres.
La derrota, junto a la victoria por 5-0 de St. Louis Cardinals en Kansas City ante los Royals, impidió a los Padres asegurarse el cuarto puesto en los playoffs de la Liga Nacional y la ventaja de campo en la ronda de wildcard de la próxima semana. San Diego logró el domingo su primer boleto a la postemporada en 14 años tras derrotar a Seattle Mariners 7-4 en 11 episodios.
Los Padres tienen la segunda mejor foja de la Nacional por detrás de Los Ángeles Dodgers, su rival en el Oeste. Los Padres sufrieron 13 ponches y batearon apenas cuatro hits.
Los Angels todavía tienen opciones en la carrera por el segundo comodín y por la segunda plaza en la División Oeste de la Liga Americana.
Los dos vuelacercas de Stassi fueron ante Zach Davies (7-4), que cargó con la derrota tras conceder tres carreras y siete hits en seis entradas, con cinco ponches y tres boletos.
La victoria fue para Canning (2-3) luego de limitar a San Diego a una anotación y dos hits, con cinco abanicados. Mike Mayers trabajó un inning y dos tercios con pelota de un hit para su segundo salvamento.
