ATLANTA (AP) -- El emergente James McCann rompió un empate a cero con un doblete en la séptima entrada, Tomás Nido apiló tres imparables y los New York Mets se sobrepusieron a las lesiones para derrotar el lunes 3-1 a los Atlanta Braves.
Con las bases llenas en el séptimo inning, el jardinero de los Mets, Kevin Pillar, recibió un pelotazo directamente en la nariz en una recta de 95 mph de Jacob Webb, llevando una carrera al plato. Pillar cayó al suelo con sangre brotándole de la nariz.
Algunos jugadores de los Braves, incluyendo a Webb, quedaron consternados al ver la grotesca imagen.
Pillar pudo salir caminando del terreno de juego, cubriéndose el rostro con toallas. Miembros de la cuadrilla del terreno cubrieron la sangre en la caja de bateo durante el cambio de lanzador de los Braves.
