Turnbull logra juego sin hit, Tigers gana a Mariners
SEATTLE (AP) -- Spencer Turnbull firmó el quinto juego sin hits de la temporada y los Detroit Tigers ganaron el martes 5-0 a los Seattle Mariners.
Turnbull, que hace dos años sumó 17 derrotas, la cifra más alta de las Ligas Mayores, nunca había lanzado más de siete innings en sus 49 aperturas anteriores en tres temporadas.
Los cinco juegos sin hits hasta el 18 de mayo igualan el récord de 1917 para esa fecha.
Los Tigers registraron el octavo juego sin hits de su historia, y el primero desde la hazaña de Justin Verlander en Toronto el 7 de mayo de 2011.
El derecho de 28 años recibió una buena asistencia defensiva del tercera base Jeimer Candelario en el séptimo inning y después ponchó a Mitch Haniger en el noveno para ponerle fin.
Turnbull (3-2) ponchó a nueve y dio dos boletos. Justin Dunn (1-2) cargó con la derrota.
