Sólida actuación de Berríos impulsa a Twins sobre Astros
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- José Berríos lanzó sólida pelota de siete entradas para Minnesota contra el equipo más anotador de las Grandes Ligas, Jorge Polanco registró tres remolcadas y los Minnesota Twins superaron el sábado 5-2 a los Houston Astros.
Polanco se voló la barda por quinta ocasión en 11 juegos y Miguel Sanó y Ben Rortvedt impulsaron carreras con dobles para respaldar la labor de Berríos (7-2) en su novena apertura consecutiva sin perder.
El derecho puertorriqueño recurrió a su bola rápida, ponchando a ocho bateadores contra el equipo más difícil de pifiar en el béisbol. Los Astros, que lideran las Grandes Ligas con el mayor promedio de bateo, la mayor cantidad de carreras y varias métricas ofensivas más, sólo pudieron conectar cinco hits y obtener una base por bolas contra Berríos, cuyas 52 victorias desde el inicio de la temporada 2017 están empatadas para la sexta cantidad más alta de las mayores.
Kyle Tucker y Robel García pegaron jonrones consecutivos en la séptima entrada, pero Berríos y los Twins arrancaron la entrada con una ventaja de cuatro carreras. Berríos terminó cuatro episodios con ponches, saltando el montículo en su camino a la caseta para avivar a los 18.767 espectadores en el Target Field.
