Mets supera a los Blue Jays en el debut de Hill
NUEVA YORK (AP) -- Pete Alonso conectó nuevamente un jonrón, el emergente Jeff McNeil desempató con un doble de dos carreras y los Mets superaron el domingo por 5-4 a los Toronto Blue Jays en el exitoso debut del abridor Rich Hill con New York Mets.
Tras ser adquirido el viernes en un canje con Tampa Bay Rays, Hill, de 41 años, le dio el apoyo necesario a la rotación de New York, diezmada por las lesiones, precisamente en un momento clave de la campaña para los líderes de la División Este de la Liga Nacional.
Cinco relevistas le siguieron a Hill y mantuvieron a Toronto con una sola carrera en cuatro entradas. El puertorriqueño Edwin Díaz ponchó a tres en una novena sin hit, ponchando a Bo Bichette con un slider de cuenta llena con un corredor en segunda para su 21er salvamento en 26 oportunidades.
El veterano Hill lanzó para su 11mo equipo en 17 temporadas en las Grandes Ligas. Permitió que los primeros tres bateadores se embasaran en la sexta antes de ser retirado. Salió con las bases llenas y una ovación de los 23.675 asistentes al Citi Field.
Resolvió los primeros cinco actos en apenas 49 pitcheos.
