Varsho pega doble en la 10ma; Diamondbacks salen victoriosos ante Cubs
CHICAGO (AP) -- Daulton Varsho sacudió un doble de tres carreras en el décimo episodio y anotó en un mal tiro de Andrelton Simmons, que incurrió en un error, para que los Arizona Diamondbacks remontaran y vencieran el sábado 7-6 a los Chicago Cubs.
Arizona pegó sólo un hit frente al abridor Justin Steele, pero se desperezó ante el bullpen, con un ataque de tres carreras en el octavo capítulo, que hizo necesario los innings extra.
Rowan Wick (1-1) aceptó el doblete de Varsho.
Arizona ha ganado tres duelos consecutivos, tras quebrar una seguidilla de seis derrotas el jueves, en el primer encuentro de la serie. Varsho finalizó bateando de 5-3 con tres impulsadas y es segundo de los Diamondbacks en el rubro de dobles, con ocho en la temporada.
Los relevistas de los Diamondbacks, Joe Mantiply, J.B. Wendelken e Ian Kennedy (3-2) se combinaron para un par de innings en blanco, antes de que Mark Melancon tomara la loma en el décimo y consiguiera su noveno salvamento de la temporada.
