Matt Olson dispara 2 jonrones y Braves doblegan a Nationals
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Matt Olson consiguió dos de los cuatro vuelacercas de Atlanta y Spencer Strider recetó nueve ponches durante seis innings en blanco, para que los Atlanta Braves doblegaran el sábado 7-1 a los Washington Nationals.
El venezolano Ronald Acuña Jr y Olson comenzaron el encuentro con jonrones solitarios en turnos seguidos. El dominicano Marcell Ozuna añadió un cuadrangular más tarde por Atlanta.
Todos esos batazos de cuatro esquinas llegaron ante Josiah Gray, quien toleró la mayor cantidad de cuadrangulares por parte de un pitcher en la presente campaña.
El segundo maderazo de Olson en la jornada llegó en el séptimo inning ante Thaddeus Ward, un relevista que debutaba en las mayores.
Olson sumó 34 vuelacercas y 103 empujadas en 2022 por Atlanta, campeón de la División Este de la Liga Nacional.
Strider (1-0) alcanzó consistentemente las 99 mph con sus pitcheos. Washington le conectó sólo tres hits.
En síntesis, Strider lució tanto como el pitcher que fue segundo en la votación al Novato del Año pasado, sólo por detrás de su compañero Michael Harris II. En la temporada anterior, acumuló 202 ponches en apenas 131 innings y dos tercios.
Gray (0-1) recibió cinco anotaciones en el mismo número de entradas.
