CHICAGO (AP) — Con el grand slam que puso fin al juego de Jake Burger, Liam Hendriks obtuvo su primera victoria desde que regresó a las Grandes Ligas tras padecer cáncer y los Medias Blancas de Chicago superaron el domingo por 6-2 a los Tigres de Detroit para barrer la serie de tres juegos.
Hendriks (1-0) trabajó una novena de 1-2-3, ponchando a dos. Fue apenas su tercera aparición en Grandes Ligas para el cerrador estelar que no había jugado tras ser diagnosticado con un linfoma no-Hodgkins etapa 4.
Con boletos de un out del cubano Yoán Moncada y Tim Anderson, Chicago llenó las bases antes de que Burger pegara un jonrón hacia el jardín izquierdo frente a Alex Lange (3-1) y con lo que llegó a 12 cuadrangulares en la temporada. Fue el primer slam de su carrera y jonrón para terminar un juego.
