Cuadrangulares consecutivos de Cowser y Westburg ayudan a Orioles a doblegar a Royals
KANSAS CITY, Missouri (AP) -- Colton Cowser y Jordan Westburg batearon cuadrangulares consecutivos frente al abridor de los Royals, Seth Lugo, quien no había permitido jonrón desde septiembre del año pasado, y los Baltimore Orioles derrotaron 5-0 a Kansas City Royals el domingo.
Cole Irvin (1-1) aceptó cuatro imparables y dio dos bases por bolas en seis entradas y dos tercios de labor por Baltimore. Dejó a corredor en tercera en la primera y otro en segundo en la quinta mientras obtuvo su primera victoria desde que derrotó a los Royals el 10 de junio de 2023.
Lugo (3-1) había prolongado su racha sin permitir cuadrangular a 41 entradas y un tercio cuando Cowser, con cuenta de 0-1, mandó un lanzamiento a las fuentes del jardín derecho para abrir la tercera. El batazo de Cowser llegó un día después de que por error lanzara la pelota del salvamento 422 de Craig Kimbrell a las fuentes para celebrar la victoria por 9-7 de los Orioles. El salvamento emparejó a Kimbrell en el séptimo lugar en la lista histórica.
