Musgrove cubre siete entradas y Bogaerts batea jonrón en triunfo de los Padres sobre Blue Jays
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Joe Musgrove lanzó siete entradas por primera vez desde el 4 de julio y Xander Bogaerts conectó jonrón para los San Diego Padres que derrotaron 6-3 a los Toronto Blue Jays, el domingo para evitar una barrida de tres juegos.
Musgrove mejoró su registro a 4-0 en duelos ante los Blue Jays quienes lo seleccionaron en la primera ronda del draft del 2011. El espigado diestro oriundo del suburbio de El Cajón permitió cuadrangulares solitarios a Davis Schneider y Ernie Clement, pero por lo demás lanzó lo suficientemente bien para llevar su foja a 3-2. Además de permitir tres carreras y cinco imparables, propinó tres ponches.
Los Padres acabaron con una seguidilla de tres derrotas y privaron a los Blue Jays a concretar su primera barrida de la temporada.
El venezolano Robert Suárez se hizo cargo del noveno tramo y obtuvo su séptimo salvamento.
Bogaerts que ha tenido contratiempos desde que firmó como agente libre previo a la temporada 2023, despachó de cuadrangular ante Chris Bassitt (2-3) iniciando la tercera entrada para empatar el juego a dos carreras. Su único cuadrangular este año había sido el 9 de abril frente a los Chicago Cubs. Pasó ocho juegos sin conectar un extrabase.
Por los Blue Jays, el dominicano Vladimir Guerrero Jr de 4-0.
Por los Padres, los dominicanos Fernando Tatis Jr bateó de 4-0 con una carrera remolcada y el estadounidense dominicano Manny Machado de 4-2.
