ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (AP) -- El dominicano Jhonkensy Noel consiguió un jonrón de dos carreras como emergente en el octavo episodio y los Cleveland Guardians , líderes de la División Central de la Liga Americana, se impusieron el sábado 4-2 a los Tampa Bay Rays para frenar una racha de tres derrotas.
Noel conectó su cuarto cuadrangular en 35 turnos desde que fue convocado del equipo de la Triple A en Columbus el mes pasado frente a Garrett Cleavinger (5-2), para colocar a los Guardians arriba por 4-2.
Nick Sandlin (6-0) laboró el séptimo inning en blanco, antes de que el dominicano Emmanuel Clase se acreditara su 29no salvamento en 32 oportunidades, al resolver el noveno capítulo.
Steven Kwan, de Cleveland, se fue de 4-0 y vio caer de .359 a .354 su promedio de bateo, el mejor de las Grandes Ligas.
El cubano Yandy Díaz empujó una carrera por Tampa Bay, que cayó a menos de .500 (47-48).
