Fleming brilla en triunfo de Rays sobre Royals
KANSAS CITY (AP) -- Josh Fleming lanzó pelota de dos imparables hasta el sexto inning, Kevin Kiermaier comandó una sólida actuación de la parte inferior del orden al bate de Tampa Bay y los Rays derrotaron el lunes 4-1 a los Kansas City Royals.
Fleming ponchó a tres en cinco entradas y un tercio, siendo ovacionado por familiares y amigos que viajaron desde su ciudad natal de Bridgeton, Missouri. El zurdo de 24 años ha permitido apenas una carrera en 10 innings y un tercio de labor esta campaña.
Los relevistas Ryan Thompson y Hunter Strickland tomaron la estafeta desde el bullpen y limitaron a Kansas City a dos hits, ambos en la octava entrada. Chris Mazz bajó el telón en el noveno episodio.
Danny Duffy (2-1) abanicó a ocho enemigos en seis innings y admitió dos carreras, todas sucias, con cuatro hits y dos bases por bolas.
Kiermaier terminó con dos hits y dos carreras impulsadas desde el noveno turno y se combinó con el séptimo en la alineación Joey Wendle, y el octavo bate Willy Adames, para apilar cinco de los siete hits de Tampa Bay.
Duffy limitó a los Rays a apenas un corredor hasta la quinta entrada, cuando Wendle pegó sencillo con dos outs y anotó desde primera en el error del inicialista Carlos Santana a un elevado dentro del cuadro, desatando un ataque de dos anotaciones.
