Con carrera de Abreu, White Sox deja tendido a Royals
CHICAGO (AP) -- El cubano José Abreu anotó con un wild pitch de Wade Davis en el noveno inning para concretar la remontada de los Chicago White Sox, que dejaron tendidos en el terreno a los Kansas City Royals en un triunfo de 4-3 el domingo.
Kansas City ganaba 3-2 cuando Tim Anderson pegó un doblete ante Davis (0-2) al inicio de la parte baja del noveno episodio.
Adam Eaton aportó un elevado de sacrificio y el cubano Yoán Moncada impulsó una carrera con un sencillo al jardín central. Abreu recibió un pelotazo justo arriba del codo izquierdo con una curva de nudillo de 82 mph.
El dominicano Yermín Mercedes pegó un sencillo al jardín derecho y Whit Merrifield, un segunda base en su segunda asignación en el prado derecho en la temporada, realizó un tiro de un solo rebote al cátcher Cam Gallagher. Moncada, que se barrió de cabeza, fue puesto fuera con un contacto cerca del hombro izquierdo.
Abreu, que el viernes se lastimó al chocar con Hunter Dozier, se enfiló al plato cuando una curva de Davis rebotó frente a Gallagher, y el 21er lanzamiento de Davis terminó rebotando hacia la primera base.
Gallagher recuperó la pelota y se lanzó en un intento por poner fuera al cubano, quien no pudo hacer contacto con el plato con su pierna izquierda, pero sí con el brazo izquierdo justo sobre la mascota de Gallagher.
