              Brett Okamoto has reported on mixed martial arts and boxing at ESPN since 2010. He has covered all of the biggest events in combat sports during that time, including in-depth interviews and features with names such as Dana White, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Georges St-Pierre. He was also a producer on the 30 for 30 film: "Chuck and Tito," which looked back at the careers and rivalry of Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. He lives in Las Vegas, and is an avid, below-average golfer in his spare time.

          After some long hard talks, and careful consideration with my family, friends and team, I've decided it's time to retire as an MMA fighter. As hard as that is to say, it's not the end of my career as a competitor. I've always been a fighter, and right now I am keeping my mind open as to what's next for me. I'd like take this time to thank everyone at the @UFC for having me for the past 10 years @danawhite for seeing something in me and believing in me for all these years ago.           Pearson, de 34 años de edad, se retira con un récord final 20-16. Sufrió una derrota por nocaut en el primer round ante Desmond Green la semana pasada en Philiadelphia, su sexta derrota en las últimas siete peleas.

          Representando a Sunderland, Inglaterra, Pearson debutó con el UFC en el 2009. Ganó la novena temporada de "The Ultimate Fighter" y enfrentó a algunos de los nombres más importantes en el peso pluma y ligero, incluyendo a Edson Barboza, Cub Swanson, Diego Sanchez, Gray Maynard, Al Iaquinta y Jorge Masvidal.

          Pearson ganó el premio a "Pelea de la Noche" del UFC en tres ocasiones.
