Shaun Livingston (Warriors) anuncia su retiro

El guardia Shaun Livingston, quien ganó tres campeonatos de la NBA con los Golden State Warriors durante sus 15 temporadas en la liga, anunció su retiro el viernes.

After 15 years in the NBA, I'm excited, sad, fortunate and grateful all in one breath. Hard to put into a caption all of the emotions it takes to try and accomplish your dreams. I wasn't supposed to be here. Anybody that has beat the odds understands the mental and emotional strain it takes to inspire yourself on an uphill war, let alone inspire others. "The injury" gave me a chance to find and prove to myself (and the world) that I wouldn't be defined by my circumstances. With my time in the League what I will be most proud of is the fact that my character, values and faith were tested, and I persevered. To my pops that told me to "go get the big ball" I THANK YOU. To my Grandpa that always showed me there was more to life than basketball I THANK YOU. To my Uncles that helped raise me like I was one of their own, THANK YOU. El versátil jugador, que cumplió 34 años el miércoles, regresó de una lesión devastadora en la rodilla al principio de su carrera para convertirse en uno de los jugadores más inteligentes de la Liga y una fuerte presencia en el vestuario.

Promedió 15 minutos por juego en las últimas dos temporadas para los Warriors, con quienes pasó cinco temporadas y ganó títulos en 2015, 2017 y 2018.

"Shaun fue una gran parte de los tres equipos de campeonato de la NBA con los Warriors, pero su viaje en general es lo más notable", dijo el CEO de los Warriors, Joe Lacob, en un comunicado. "Superó probabilidades increíbles después de una lesión devastadora, vistió nueve uniformes diferentes de la NBA durante su regreso, tuvo una temporada en la D-League y, como corresponde, terminó siendo un gran contribuyente en uno de los mejores equipos en la historia de la NBA".

Originalmente fue reclutado por LA Clippers con la cuarta selección general en 2004.

En un juego contra Charlotte el 26 de febrero de 2007, Livingston sufrió una terrible lesión en la rodilla, se dislocó la rótula izquierda y se rompió la pierna después de caer torpemente. Sufrió una rotura de LCA, PCL y menisco lateral, se torció el LMC y se dislocó la rótula.

Después de perderse toda la temporada 2007-08, volvió a jugar baloncesto con el Miami Heat en 2008 antes de ser cambiado al Oklahoma City Thunder más tarde esa temporada.

Estuvo con varios equipos: Washington, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Cleveland y Brooklyn, antes de firmar con los Warriors antes de la temporada 2014.

Livingston terminó su carrera con un promedio de 6.3 puntos, 2.4 rebotes y 3.0 asistencias por juego.
