La liga más prestigiosa del mundo, la Premier League, comenzará la temporada 2024/2025 el 16 de agosto y estará disponible en la pantalla de Disney+.
El partido inaugural lo disputará Manchester United frente a Fulham el viernes 16 de agosto. El mejor partido de la primera jornada lo animarán el domingo 18 el último campeón Manchester City y Chelsea.
El torneo tendrá como fecha final (38) el domingo 25 de mayo, previo a la final de la UEFA Champions League a disputarse el 31 de mayo en Munich. Será después de la definición de la UEFA Europa League en Bilbao (el 21 de mayo) y de la UEFA Conference League en Breslavia (el 28 de mayo).
Como ocurre desde la temporada 1995/96, serán 20 los participantes y jugarán todos contra todos. Los primeros cuatro clasificarán a la Champions, el quinto tiene su lugar asegurado en la Europa League. El campeón de la FA Cup también clasifica a la UEL, mientras que el de la Copa de la Liga a la Conference. Si ya tienen su cupo asegurado a Europa, se sumarán el sexto y el séptimo de la tabla de la Premier.
Los descensos serán tres. Este año perdieron la categoría Luton Town, Burnley y Sheffield United. Desde Championship también ascenderán tres. En esta temporada las promociones fueron para Leicester City, Ipswich Town y Southampton.
En cuanto a los partidos más atractivos del campeonato, Manchester City, el último campeón, y Liverpool, chocarán el 30 de noviembre y el 22 de febrero. El primer derbi de Manchester será el 14 de diciembre y el segundo el 5 de abril. Además, el duelo de Londres entre Arsenal y Chelsea se disputará el 9 de noviembre y el 15 de marzo.
Como de costumbre, la Premier no se detendrá en época navideña. El clásico Boxing day del 26 de diciembre tendrá como platos fuertes los choques entre Man City y Everton y Aston Villa y Newcastle. Sí se detendrá entre el 4 y el 14 de enero. Entre el 21 de diciembre y el 4 de enero se disputarán 4 jornadas.
Habrá cinco pausas por fechas FIFA: del 1 al 14 de septiembre de 2024, del 5 al 19 de octubre de 2024, del 9 al 23 de noviembre de 2024 y del 15 de marzo al 1 de abril de 2025. El torneo terminará antes del inicio del Mundial de clubes, que será del 15 de junio al 13 de julio de 2025..
