Marek Hamsik passes Maradona's Serie A goals tally as Napoli cruise

Marek Hamsik made history as Napoli maintained their unbeaten start to the new Serie A season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Palermo in Sicily.

Hamsik struck his side's opener in the 47th minute with what was his 82nd league goal for the club -- one more than one of the club's most famous players, Diego Maradona.

Jose Callejon followed up with a brace as the visitors spoiled the Palermo coaching debut of Roberto De Zerbi, who was forced to watch from the stands due to a touchline ban from his time at Foggia.

The recalled Lorenzo Insigne missed some good early chances, including one effort which tested home keeper Josip Posavec, while Callejon volleyed over the bar.

The one-way traffic continued with Piotr Zielinski just failing to find the target before Hamsik grabbed the opener by firing into the top corner after being put through by Faouzi Ghoulam.

Four minutes later Napoli made it two when the impressive Insigne sent in a pinpoint cross which found the head of Callejon, who calmly nodded past home keeper Josip Posavec.

Callejon's quick-fire double was complete in the 65th minute when he was put through by Zielinski and saw his shot squirm home through the arms of the hapless Posavec.

However Posavec went some way to redeeming himself in the dying stages when he pulled off a good save to deny Napoli substitute Manolo Gabbiadini.

Napoli proceeded to cruise through the final moments and leave new Palermo coach De Zerbi plenty to think about, with his side marooned on one point after three games of the new season.
