La noche del sábado, Teófimo López logró lo que buscaba cuando comenzó su carrera de boxeo profesional en 2016: vencer a Vasiliy Lomachenko y hacerse cargo de este deporte.
López lo consiguió poniéndose agresivo y construyendo una ventaja temprana en las tarjetas de puntuación de los jueces en la pelea de unificación de peso ligero contra Lomachenko en el MGM Grand en Las Vegas. El campeón de la FIB, aguantó una carga constante en las últimas rondas de Lomachenko y se llevó sus tres títulos mundiales con la victoria por decisión unánime.
Ahora, López es el campeón indiscutido de peso ligero y quizás se convirtió en una de las caras del boxeo después de vencer a Lomachenko, quien ingresó el sábado como el luchador número uno libra por libra de ESPN.
